Ford will ask £16,245 for the entry-level version of the new 1 litre Ecoboost Ford Focus. A £250 premium over the 1.6 four cylinder. This 100bhp version of the new downsized three cylinder engine, which produces equivalent power to a four cylinder 1.6, emits 99g/km and achieves 58.9mpg on the official combined cycle. According to Ford, these are best-in-class figures.
The three cylinder is also available with 125bhp, in which form it produces CO2 emissions of 114g/km and 56.5mpg. This version provides 125lb ft of torque between 1400 and 5200rpm (and 148lb ft on overboost), promising brisk performance despite the three cylinder’s small size. The new engines go on sale next month in the Focus, and will also be offered in Ford’s small B-Max MPV which appears later this year, the bigger C-Max and the Grand C-Max.
