Apprentice of the year | Grange Jaguar Swindon

Grange Jaguar Swindon

There’s something in the service water at Grange Jaguar

Grange, the Jaguar Automotive Dealership in Swindon, has always been a supporter in the investment of youth and has a history of recruiting and producing high quality, apprentice trained vehicle technicians.

So it came as little surprise that their employee, Scott Sheriden, won the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at a recent ceremony celebrating the best young talent in the Motor Industry.

Having completed his three year Jaguar Land Rover apprenticeship with Grange, Scott, along with the other apprentices in the region that passed the course, was entered in to the Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by City Guilds.

The candidates were subjected to a series of rigorous questions in round one regarding the technology and diagnostic equipment used in modern Jaguars.

Scott excelled in this round and was subsequently entered into the final round where he had to undergo a series of practical assessments and make a presentation on a subject of his choice.

Having impressed the technical trainers with his practical skills, Jaguar Land Rover’s Training Manager, Dr Adrian Birch, was particularly complementary on Scott’s presentation on diesel particulate filters.

On Sunday the 30th September, Scott, accompanied by his Service Manager, Paul Titheradge who himself has completed a Jaguar Land Rover Apprenticeship Scheme, attended the final’s presentation evening along with the six other finalists.

Scott was awarded the title ‘Apprentice of the Year 2012’ and was presented with £6,000 worth of Jaguar Land Rover diagnostic equipment for his service department to the delight of his colleagues and Grange’s customers.

Scott’s Service Manager, Paul Titheradge commented

“I’ve seen Scott progress from a shy 16 year old school leaver into a confident young man and think he has a very bright future”.

Ronnie Corbett | Grange Jaguar Croydon

Ronnie Corbett has just taken delivery of his New Jaguar XJ 3.0 Diesel Portfolio. Ronnie has been no stranger to Jaguar at Grange Croydon and we know him well.

Having taken a phone call from his lovely secretary, an appointment was made for him to come and look at the Jaguar range the same day.

Ronnie explained that his good friend Jimmy Tarbuck has a Jaguar XJ 3.0, and because Jimmy loves it, was enough for him to pay us a visit to Grange Jaguar Croydon for a test drive.

Having compared the size of the Jaguar XJ to his Mercedes S CLASS, to make sure it was no bigger, he went for a drive around Croydon. Accompanied by our sales associate John O’Shea, Ronnie decided he liked the drive of the Jaguar XJ and that his decision to have it was an easy one.

After 10 minutes of working the figures out, a deal was done on a Metallic Silver one in the showroom and a delivery date set.

It was an honour and a joy to deal with such a legend and a gentleman.

We welcome Mr Corbett back to both Grange Croydon and Jaguar.

Jaguar launches cheapest XF ever

Jaguar says its new diesel XF offers “greater value than ever before,” which is another way of saying it’s the cheapest way ever into the executuve saloon.

The XF 2.2 Diesel 163 is a down-tuned version of the recently unveiled XF Diesel, using the same 2.2-litre engine but with power lowered from 190bhp to 163bhp.

The 27bhp loss means £1,000 chopped off the list price, so the XF range now starts under £30,000 for the first time. It’s £29,950 for an XF 2.2 Diesel SE.

Fuel economy, however, stays the same with the lower power output, pegged at 52.3mpg with emissions of 149g/km. VED payments, it follows, stay the same too: both XF Diesels are in Band F, which costs £130 per year.

Sadly the 0-62mph time goes down, from 8.5 seconds in the more powerful diesel to 9.8 in this new version. Top speed is 130mph.

The new XF Diesel is on sale now, with first deliveries expected in March.

Aston Martin DB6 Volante at Grange Aston Martin Brentwood

Production Dates: October 1965 – July 1969

The DB6 was the first Aston Martin to carry the name Volante – which means ‘flying’ in Italian. It was in fact the last thirty-seven DB5 chassis that were used to build the short-chassis Volantes and were completed between October 1965 and October 1966.

Although clearly derived from the DB4 through the DB5, the new model was announced at the London Motor Show in October 1965. The most noticeable styling change on the DB6 was the spoiler – then called a Kamm tail – integrated into the tail of the car, which improved high speed stability. The split front and rear bumpers; a redesigned oil cooler opening in the front valance, a higher roof (136 cm) and longer wheelbase (258.5 cm), 9.5 cm more than the DB5, giving an overall length of 462 cm

Price New: £ 4,998 (Saloon)

 Price Estimate Today: Circa £300,000
